Cast Member: John Shum

Alongside this familiar narrative is the constantly disarming duo of Samuel Hui and Karl Maka and they of course continue to show great comic timing and interplay in the familiar roles of Sam and Kodijack.

The film is a genuinely well-made buddy cop outing that has two great leading performances and a healthy helping of Hong Kong-styled heroic bloodshed.

Certainly a product of its time and now rather dated, ‘Guns of Dragon’ is still worth a watch for those in the mood for unpretentious and gratuitous gun blazing nonsense.

‘I Love Maria’ offers a very good 100 minutes of entertainment for those who are looking for something new within Hong Kong cinema.

‘It’s A Drink, It’s A Bomb’ is far less interested in developing a logical plot and far more devoted to the increasingly bizarre situations our protagonists find themselves in.

Although there is a great deal of potential within the casting, ‘Mr.Boo Meets Pom Pom’ is certainly the weakest of the Pom Pom quartet.

If the more ambitious nature of the production can be ignored and the awkward jingoism put to one side, ‘Mr. Cinema’ can be enjoyed as a well-performed, sometimes captivating film.

The final reel is raw power and energy as Sammo takes on a small army of goons before meeting his match in Billy Chow.

‘Pom Pom’ is a typically enjoyable 80’s Hong Kong comedy that will definitely strike a chord with fans of the ‘Lucky Stars’.

With this fourth part the formula remains in place and the whole production has the very comfortable feeling of familiarity to it.

This film has no happy endings or easy ways out; it grips on to its audience and just refuses to let go.

While ‘The Miracle Box’ is an imperfect drama, it is without a doubt a film that benefits from a few exceptional performances.
