The Fighting Spirit Film Festival 2017

The second Fighting Spirit Film Festival will take place on Saturday, 16th September 2017 at the Boleyn Cinema in London.

Dedicated to Martial Arts movies, the event will include screenings of four feature films and several shorts by independent film makers. There will also be live Martial Art demonstrations from various clubs throughout the day, and attendees will be able to meet and mingle with performers, actors and production staff.

Schedule:

10:15AM – Ip Man: The Final Fight (18)
In postwar Hong Kong, legendary Wing Chun grandmaster Ip Man is reluctantly called into action once more, when what begin as simple challenges from rival kung fu styles soon draw him into the dark and dangerous underworld of the Triads. Now, to defend life and honor, he has no choice but to fight one last time.

12:45PM – Official Festival Opening
Introduction and Martial arts demonstrations.

1:10PM – Short Films Selection 1 (Family friendly)
A mix of fiction, documentaries, and animation, all produced by up-and-coming film makers.

2.55PM – The Karate Kid (12A)
When he is plagued by attacks and the cruel jokes of a gang of vengeful kids, a young teenager takes karate lessons in the hope that it will make him strong. In the end he learns the more important lesson, that fighting is the last answer to a problem, not the first.

5.30PM – Short Films Selection 2
A second selection of short films, including a Q&A with actors/staff.

7.30PM – Re:Born (15)
A legendary covert soldier with a mysterious past now decides to once again unleash his beast inside of him to stand up for what he cares about.

9.35PM – Short Film Awards Presentation
Demonstrations by World Martial Arts Champions Samuel Mak & Steve Coleman.

9.45PM – The 36th Chamber of Shaolin (18)
After his family is slaughtered by Manchu warlords, young Liu Yu (Liu Chia-Hui) enters the Shaolin Temple, there intending to learn the martial art skills necessary to gain his revenge. Determined to succeed in his aim, Yu endures the thirty-five chambers of kung-fu artistry, testing his powers to their very limits in the process, before he is ready to face the warlord leader, Tien.
