Hong Kong gangster film ‘Infernal Affairs’ to get Indian remake

By   |  Sep 26, 2017

Andrew Lau‘s cult Hong Kong movie ‘Infernal Affairs‘ is being lined up for a Hindi-language Indian remake. The project is part of a two-picture deal between Warner Bros. India and Azure Entertainment to develop, produce and distribute key titles from the Warner library for the local market.

As many will already be aware, this is not the first time that ‘Infernal Affairs’ has had the remake treatment. Back in 2006 the story was reinterpreted by Martin Scorsese for the award-winning film ‘The Departed’, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, and Mark Wahlberg.

This is also not the first time that Azure Entertainment have looked towards the Far East for inspiration. Last year they produced a remake of the Korean film ‘The Man From Nowhere’, titled ‘Rocky Handsome’.

No word yet on who will star in the Indian ‘Infernal Affairs’, but the film is apparently very close to securing a director.
