Live-action American ‘One Piece’ TV series currently in the works

During the ‘One Piece’ 20th anniversary celebrations, it was announced that a live-action American television adaptation of the series is currently in the works. The project will be overseen by Tomorrow ITV Studios (who are coincidentally also working on a live-action ‘Cowboy Bebop’ series) with ‘Prison Break’s executive producer Marty Adelstein supervising.

‘One Piece’ creator Eiichiro Oda was not present at the event, but he did send in a statement regarding the news. In it, he said that he was “very happy” about the announcement, and reassured fans that his “one condition for the series is to never betray the fans who supported my work for 20 years”.

Other notable mentions at the event included a new three-issue magazine, an upcoming two-hour anime special, a new video game, and July 22 is now officially considered “One Piece Day”.
