Trailer: ‘Wine War’

‘Wine War’ (抢红) is a 2017 Hong Kong action thriller directed by Leon Lai.

Shot in France, the film centres around a sommelier who contacts his childhood friend to get his hands on a vintage 1855 wine but winds up entangled in an age-old feud between two rival vineyards. The cast includes Zhang Hanyu, Leon Lai, David Wang, Du Juan, and Lily Ji.

Synopsis: When a world renowned Chinese sommelier residing in France is contacted by his childhood buddy in China to help him auction for a bottle of 1855 vintage wine on behalf of the Chinese government, he agrees without question. Little does he realise he is about to be sucked into an age-old feud between rivalling vineyards and a historical mystery that might shatter the whole oenological industry.

‘Wine War’ opens across Hong Kong on May 19, 2017.
