‘Kickboxer 5’ is far from perfect but it remains a solid action outing that is boosted by the inclusion of such a physically adept leading man.

‘Love In The Time Of Twilight’ is the kind of film that starts awkwardly but increases in stature as the story continues.

While it is undoubtedly still flawed, ‘Mortal Kombat’ remains one of the most admirable big screen video game adaptations and a competent American Martial Arts movie.

‘My Father Is A Hero’ provides some adrenalin pumping set-pieces, notably a classic scene where Li takes on a dozen of the villain’s lackies with a pair of tonfa.

The over-the-top style that is often associated with this sub-genre of comedy may not be to everyone’s taste, but it remains entertaining and raises the odd chuckle.

A great set up is unfortunately wasted via odd creative choices, too much focus on comedy-romance and a reliance on grating theatrics.

While it remains watchable, ‘Red Wolf’ really suffers from its own inability to create anything fresh.

The action is far superior to that of any American made film on ten times the budget, and shows Chan at his best shortly after the excellent ‘Drunken Master 2’.

The action is typically American. Gruner displays a repertoire of 3 different kicks at a less than blistering pace, while his opponents are even less impressive.

Not that I am expecting high art from what is a low budget Japanese action film but this film really is awful.

Lau Ching-Wan is simply stunning in the role of Root, putting so much delicate charm and humility in his part that it’s impossible for the viewer not to empathise with him.

‘Sixty Million Dollar Man’ is a lazy and disappointingly unfunny outing for all concerned.
