Our 2011 staff top ten lists continue with an excellent selection of offerings from Mr. Andrew Skeates. In amongst his list, you'll find a couple of Johnnie To's finest, some samurai classics, and a touch of kick ass kung fu. When it comes to his booby prize, Thailand you should be ashamed! |

The next member of the team to provide his top ten is Phil Gillon, who openly admits that his list leans heavily toward the action side of Asian cinema. Still, I think most of us can agree that it's packed full of quality and I get the sneaky suspicion that you'll be seeing several of these films on all of our lists. |

We kick off with Andrew Saroch's list, packed full of stylish Japanese dramas with a sprinkling of kung fu class. Oh, and look out for our new turkey award which is given to our least favourite movie of the year. |

It is truly sad to hear of the death of Ricky Hui Koon Ying at the age of 65. Many Hong Kong newspapers and Asian media outlets will undoubtedly give a full obituary and biography to this cinematic great, but I thought it would be good to just remember some of those great Hui moments. |

I had created a monster. My wife was consuming K-drama like a cannibal at a beach party and it was mostly my fault. I had introduced her to Asian cinema, helped her to dip her toe in the great ocean of Eastern art that remains such a part of my life. And then she discovered television drama from Korea... |

Phil Gillon is the next to provide his top ten list and once again, it is his love of action that shines out. He manages to squeeze in no less than four different Donnie Yen movies, although I guess that isn't surprising considering the industry seems to think Donnie is the only martial arts star left in the world. |

After a short hiatus, we are back with a couple more of our staff lists of top ten movies watched (not made) in 2010. Next up is.. me! This year, I played catch-up and enjoyed a number of films that most of you probably watched an eternity ago. WARNING: This list may contain traces of Jay Chou! |

In the concluding part of this two-part article, Andrew Saroch continues his analysis of Hong Kong cinema throughout 2010. This time around, he gives opinions on some of the year's biggest hits ('Detective Dee', 'Ip Man 2', ’Overheard’) and most offensive flops (*cough* 'Future X-Cops' *cough*). |

While it may not be as heralded as it was in the 1980s, the Hong Kong film industry continues to draw its fair share of crowds both at home and abroad. In this first part of a new two-part article, Andrew Saroch casts his keen eye back over 2010 to highlight Hong Kong's biggest cinematic success stories. |
