How about The Warrior's Way? It's a Korean/ American hybrid movie but it looks pretty swish.

Not as great as I thought, and pretty forgetful but adequate entertainment. The scene underwater was quite awkward to watch, but nevertheless it had amazing cinematography and art direction. What about The Taoist Wizard?

Looks like a great film. Just a matter of time before it gets released...

Like you I have yet to watch Musa, but I actually rather liked Shadowless Sword - interesting Korean take on Wuxia, with lashings of high quality production and the obvious additional Korean melodramatic flair.

I though Taoist Wizard was rather excellent, but don't go there if you are looking for dazzling action. It is more of a comedy film, with some really excellent performances, and avoids the usual pitfalls of placing people from an ancient past in the modern day.

I don't really go in to a film with high expectations (usually!), but I look forward to the Taoist Wizard. Sounds like my kind of film!

To re-ignite this thread, I would have to say 'Secret Reunion' was one of the best recent Korean films. A top notch thriller that everyone should catch. In the rom-com world, 'Cyrano Agency' was good fun and certainly one of the better recent genre offerings.

I maybe was too hyped up for Secret Reunion, and thought it was merely alright, especially with the talent on display. I thought it never quite faced up to the North vs. South elements as much as it could have done if it was not so obvioulsy a pop-corn muncher. And it really lost its way towrds the end.

In fact, I did not think last year was that great a year for Korean Cinema, only once was I personally blown away (I Saw The Devil, and I know many had issues with that). The Man From Nowhere was pretty good, for what it was. There are a few I still have to catch up with from the less action-oriented side of things (ha ha ha and Poetry are waiting for me).

'Poetry' was a disappointment. I was really looking forward to it, but it was quite distant in execution.

Agree with everyone about Welcome to Dongmakgol, fantastic film.

The best recent one would have to be Woochi, absolutely fantastic movie. I wasn't sure about it at first but it won me over pretty much straight away. Plus it has Hae-jin Yu in it!

Totally agree, Woochi is a really fun adventure film that made it into my top ten last year. Hopefully the Cine Asia release will give it some highly deserved recognition.

It defintiely deserves higher recognition, it's one of my favourite movies in recent years - asian or otherwise.
