Police Story/OUATIC blu rays

Just being released but according to asiandvdguide, the former is just a pretty poor upscale. Scott will probably have a lot more info about this. And they might be region locked to A! Why do they keep locking blu-rays?

It's such a shame, the artwork looks not too bad for once !

They're meant to be very good transfers apparently.

I'd read that The Big Boss was very good, but that Fist of Fury wasnt up to much.

I don't have Blu-Ray guys.

Although the BLs are genuine HD, I reckon the DVDs look better - namely the colours on 'TBB' where it looks like someone spilled a jar of beetroot, whereas 'Fist Of Fury's main problem is that doesn't look as sharp. I wonder if K&R are using a studio that's doing a poor job on converting the HD D5 masters Fortune Star provides?

Of course, if you can get past the video, then the audio is still lacking mono and you've got to put up with that bullshit remix.

sorry to bump such an old thread but I did actually watch the OUATIC and PS Trilogy blurays. The screen grabs looked horrible but Ive concluded the OUATIC set is definitely HD. when you watch it in motion theres no denying it. Pt 1 has been heavily post processed, degarained and colors boosted, resulting in a transfer similar to Disney's Drunken Master 2 bluray. Pts 2 & 3 look a bit better with some actual grain structure detail, even if its minimal.

Police Story I & 2 look pretty bad and might as well be upscales but Pt 3 is definitiely HD. As a standalone release, I'd actually recommend PS3.
