Good Korean Swordplay Movies?

Postby Jubilee on Wed Aug 06, 2008 3:01 pm

Swordplay has been Increasingly frustrating genre for me with korean film makers so far, with nearly every one I have seen being in some way inadequate.

The Restless (Excellent Visuals, Cinematography and Effects... Poor Characterization and Acting).

Shadowless Sword (Probably the best so far and similar in feel to early 90's HK Wuxia but pacing is iffy and lead actor a dud).

Binchunmoo (Same director as SS, but boring, and again problems with pacing and acting).

Anyone have any recomendations I may have missed. I love Duelist by the way, but wouldn't consider it Swordplay at all.

Well, there's no point me recommending a Korean swordplay for you, as I thought Bichunmoo was superb. :)

Masochist!

But seriously, to each their own. I like the lead actor tho.

I quite liked Shadowless Sword; kinda reminded me of Pirates of the Caribbean, in terms of style & especially colour.
I don't care what anyone says; Duelist was perfection. Fantastic Swordplay from Korea.

I quite liked "Legend Of The Shadowless Sword" (The title I saw it under.)but I found even though the "Duelist" looked great it was a bit of a disappoitment. "Binchunmoo" on the other hand is one of those films that has sat on my too watch pile for over two years.
"My style? You could call it the art of fighting without fighting" (") {-.-} (")

** My films to watch currently stands at 125**Keeps going up!!!!!! Too many films. Not enough time.

I'm not sure if this can be included as its more an historical epic, but 'Divine Weapon' is meant to be ok.
