The trailer has been released for 'Heroic Detective', a new action flick directed by and starring Jay Chou. The film centres around a detective who is hot on the trail of a criminal organisation that have devised a deadly mind-control device. Other cast members include Eric Tsang, Shawn Yue and Jerry Yan.

4Digital Asia have announced the UK DVD release of 'Kaiji: The Ultimate Gambler' for the 26th July, 2010. Directed by Toya Sato, the film is a live-action adaptation of Nobuyuki Fukumoto’s popular gambling manga that stars Tatsuya Fujiwara, Kenichi Matsuyama, Yuki Amami and Teruyuki Kagawa.

A movie version of the 'Inazuma Eleven' game franchise has been green-lit for this winter. The soccer role-playing game was developed by Level 5 ('Professor Layton and the Curious Village') and has already inspired a television anime series that premiered in October of 2008.

A teaser trailer has been released for Studio Ghibli's upcoming adaptation of Mary Norton's classic 1952 novel, 'The Borrowers'. Currently titled 'The Borrower Arrietty' (or 'Karigurashi no Arrietty' in Japanese), the film will mark the directorial debut of 36-year-old Ghibli animator Hiromasa Yonebayashi.

Tai Seng have announced the US DVD and Blu-Ray releases of 'Beauty On Duty' for the 18th June, 2010. Directed by Wong Jing, the film bears more than a passing resemblance to the movie 'Miss Congeniality' as Charlene Choi plays a bumbling rookie cop sent to infiltrate a beauty pageant.

The Japanese studio Gonzo are producing four comedic anime episodes based around the upcoming Xbox 360 game, 'Crackdown 2' (AKA 'Riot Act 2'). Like the game, the episodes will centre around a hardened "Agent" designed to take out the gangs that have infested a futuristic metropolis.

Speculation has run rampant today with the appearance of a new short 'Mortal Kombat' film (subtitled "Rebirth") that made its way anonymously to YouTube. Although nothing has been officially confirmed, word is that the footage is a test for a potential R-rated film reboot of the video game franchise.

MVM have announced the UK DVD release of 'Samurai Zombie' for the 19th July, 2010. Directed by Tak Sakaguchi and written by Ryuhei Kitamura, the film is a joyously demented horror-comedy that includes scenes of explosive geyser-spouting decapitations and hilariously graphic dismemberment.

The trailer and poster art have been released for 'You Deserve To Be Single', a new romantic comedy from cutting-edge female director Cai Xin. The film centres around three contemporary urban couples who are involved in what has been described as a romantic Infernal Affairs-esque chess game.

Vicol Entertainment have announced the HK DVD and Blu-Ray releases of 'Future X-Cops' for the 10th June, 2010. Directed by Wong Jing, the film is a rare Chinese entry in the ambitious time travelling science fiction sub-genre that stars Andy Lau, Fan Bing Bing, Fan Siu Wong, Barbie Hsu and Xu Jiao.
