It was way back in 2008 that we first revealed that Chen Kaige ('Forever Enthralled') was working on a big screen adaptation of the Yuan Dynasty play 'The Orphan Of Zhao'. Almost two years on, it's finally been confirmed that the project is underway, with Ge You and Huang Xiaoming in the starring roles.

Cine Asia have announced the UK DVD and Blu-Ray releases of 'Killzone' (AKA 'SPL') for the 8th March 2010. Directed by Wilson Yip, the film was the winner of the Best Action Choreography Award at the 2006 Hong Kong Film Awards and stars Donnie Yen, Simon Yam and Sammo Hung.

Zhang Ziyi has reportedly quit both her roles as lead actress and producer for the upcoming 'Snow Flower And The Secret Fan'. According to her publicist, Zhang left the project so that she can concentrate on her part in Wong Kar Wai's new martial-arts drama, 'The Grand Master'.

Capcom are currently putting the finishing touches to a live-action movie based on their zombie infested video game 'Dead Rising'. Directed and co-written by the game's producer Keiji Inafune, the film is titled 'Death Disease Contamination Dead Rising' and stars Hiroki Yoshida and Hiroshi Yazaki.

Four films are currently in development on the life of the late Eastern Han Dynasty general Guan Yu. Guan served under the warlord Liu Bei and played a significant role in the civil war that led to the collapse of the Han Dynasty and the establishment of Shu Han, of which Liu Bei was the first emperor.

A more complete trailer has appeared for Derek Yee's ('Shinjuku Incident') new action thriller 'Triple Tap'. The film stars Louis Koo and Daniel Wu as two expert marksmen who strike up a rivalry after meeting in an IPSC contest. Other notable cast members include Charlene Choi, Li Bing Bing and Alex Fong.

Echo Bridge Home Entertainment have announced the US DVD release of 'The Sensei' for the 9th March 2010. Written, produced and directed by Diana Lee Inosanto, daughter of Dan Inosanto, the film tells the story of a gay teen who turns to the martial arts after he is the victim of constant bullying.

Shoreline Entertainment have announced the US DVD release of 'Wushu Warrior' for the 2nd March 2010. Directed by Alain Desrochers ('Nitro'), the film is an American attempt at the old school martial arts movie and stars Tod Fennell, Matt Frewer, Amber Mullin and Po Lok-Tung.

Kam & Ronson have announced the HK DVD release of 'Painted Skin' (1993) for the 28th January 2010. The film was the last to be directed by King Hu ('A Touch Of Zen') and is loosely based on a famous story from Pu Songling's classic short story collection, 'Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio'.

Korean director Lee Jun-ik ('The King and the Clown') is set to return to historical period epics with a new action-packed piece entitled 'Like The Moon Escaping From The Clouds'. Based on the manhwa (comic) by Park Heung-yong, the film will star Hwang Jeong-Min, Cha Seung-won, and Han Ji-hye.
