'Crackdown 2' Gets Its Own Anime
Â
The Japanese studio Gonzo are producing four comedic anime episodes based around the upcoming Xbox 360 game, 'Crackdown 2' (AKA 'Riot Act 2'). Like the game, the episodes will centre around a hardened "Agent" designed to take out the gangs that have infested a futuristic metropolis.
'Trigun' character designer Takahiro Yoshimatsu is responsible for directing, designing, and overseeing the project. Shinichi Niizeki and Masato Nunome not only conceived of the anime's story concepts, but also voiced the characters Sam and Eric, respectively. Comedian/professional wrestler Yoshihiro Sakai, AKA Muscle Sakai, makes his voice-acting debut as the main character of Agent.
Starting on Thursday, one episode of the anime will be released every week on the promotional site www.riotact2.jp/promo and Xbox Live Marketplace in Japan. It is not known at this time whether the series will make its way outside of Japan, but hopefully some bright internet spark will translate it somewhere. In the meantime, 'Crackdown 2' is released in July and can be preordered now from Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk.
