Donnie Yen To Remake 'The Iceman Cometh'
Â
Donnie Yen is set to co-direct and star in a 3D remake of the 1989 Yuen Biao classic 'The Iceman Cometh'. Raymond Yip and Christopher Sun will assist in directing duties, with Stephen Shiu returning as producer. Zhang Ziyi, Li Bingbing and Jun Ji-Hyun are all currently in talks to co-star.
Directed by Clarence Ford, the original film starred Biao as a Ming Dynasty guardsman who is sent to take down a notorious murderer and rapist, played by Yuen Wah. When the pair finally meet, a battle ensues that results in them being frozen in ice. They are discovered in the 1980s and are transported to Hong Kong as historical artifacts. There they are defrosted and continue their rivalry.
Production of 'The Iceman Cometh 3D' is due to start next March, with an estimated budget of around HK $40 million (US $5 million).
