'Doomsday Book' On Korean DVD

Candle Media have announced the Korean DVD release of 'Doomsday Book' for the 14th August, 2012. Directed by Kim Ji-Woon ('I Saw The Devil') and Yim Pil-Sung ('Hansel & Gretel'), the film is a three-part sci-fi fantasy omnibus that focuses around human self-destruction in a high-tech era.

Synopsis

In Yim Pil Sung's first chapter "Brave New World", a researcher's (Ryoo Seung Bum, The Unjust) date with a young woman (Ko Joon Hee, Yeosu) is disrupted by some high school boys. After the fight, his body begins to change and a zombie virus outbreak gradually takes over Seoul.

Kim Jee Woon's second chapter "Heavenly Creature" is set in a future in which robots have replaced human labor. One particular temple robot (voiced by Park Hae Il) has not only gained cognizance, but also reached enlightenment. Viewing this development as a threat, the manufacturer decides to disassemble the robot, but a robot mechanic (Kim Kang Woo, A Better Tomorrow) and female Buddhist disciple (Kim Gyu Ri, Poongsan) try to save it.

In the third chapter "Happy Birthday", a collaborative effort from Kim and Yim, a girl and her family retreat to an underground bunker as a meteor hurls towards earth. The girl realizes too late that the meteor is actually her doing. Seven years later, she (Bae Du Na, The Host) reemerges from the bunker.
