'Gatchaman' Lives!

 

Although it was reported that the future was bleak for Hong Kong-based IMAGI Studios, it looks like they have managed to ride the financial wave and are now back in action. Thankfully, this also means that the big screen adaptation of 'Gatchaman' is back on track and they have even released a new teaser trailer!

According to former Imagi creative & art director Flex Ip, the footage was actually completed before Imagi issued the closing of its animation department. However, the new management team have confirmed that the film is currently in pre-production and is expected to be out in 2011.

'Gatchaman' is based on the hit 1970s Japanese television series from Tatsunoko Production, known in the West as 'G-Force' or 'Battle of the Planets'. The series followed a team of bird-themed superhero ninjas as they battle the menace of Galactor, a technologically advanced international terrorist organization determined to conquer the world.
