Jet Li Cast In 3D Remake Of 'New Dragon Gate Inn'

 

After flexing his dramatic muscles in 'Ocean Heaven', Jet Li will get back to what he does best (i.e. - kicking ass) in Tsui Hark's upcoming 3D remake of 'New Dragon Gate Inn'. The film will mark the first time that Li and Hark have worked together since 1992's 'Once Upon a Time in China III'.

The original 'New Dragon Gate Inn' was written and produced by Hark in 1992, and starred Tony Leung, Maggie Cheung, Donnie Yen, and Brigitte Lin. Considering his current popularity, it's no surprise to learn that Yen was the only cast member to be invited back. However, he turned down the project as he felt it would be wrong to play the same role again.

With a budget of around 300 million yuan (44 million US dollars), the film will co-star Chen Kun, Zhou Xun and Taiwanese actress Guey Lun-mei. It is scheduled to start shooting in Beijing in October.
