Johnnie To Takes A Hallyday
Johnnie To's next movie was reportedly going to be 'Death Of A Hostage' which would see him reunited with actor Lau Ching Wan. However, after a few days shooting the movie was put on hold and Johnnie To has now returned to a long-simmering project which will star the "Elvis Of France", Johnny Hallyday.
The script for the film (which is apparently excellent) was written by Wai Ka Fai and Johnnie To was originally hoping to get Alain Delon for the leading role. This was all going swimmingly after the two men met and got on well but as the start date dragged on, Delon opted to pull out and singing sensation Johnny Hallyday was hired in his place.
The basic story centres around an aging French gangster, now retired, who comes to Hong Kong to avenge the death of his daughter who had married a Chinese guy and been murdered when his family, who happened to be criminals, were wiped out.
The cast for the film also includes Felix Wong, Anthony Wong and Simon Yam.
