We may be a little late on this one, but if you are based in London you still have two days in which to check out Johnnie To's 'Vengeance' on the big screen. The film will be showing at the French Cultural Institute (Institut français du Royaume-Uni) on Queensbury Avenue until the 3rd June, 2010.
Synopsis
A father travels to Hong Kong to avenge his daughter, whose family was murdered by a handful of mindless thugs. His day job as a French chef gives away no hint of his dark and mysterious past as a killer twenty years ago. Johnny Hallyday stars as the 'lone Samurai', Costello, who has never settled down, feeling no bond to place nor need to dwell on the past. This fast-paced crime thriller leaves no room for emotion as lives are taken one bye one...Vengeance is Johnnie To's fifth feature to be selected at Cannes and is considered a heartfelt tribute to the French director Jean-Pierre Melville.
