Park Chan-Wook Pleased With Latest Picture

After five months of shooting throughout Korea and Australia, director Park Chan-Wook ('Oldboy') has wrapped his latest movie entitled 'Thirst'. The film sees Chan-Wook delving into the horror genre for a tale of vampires that stars Song Kang-ho ('The Host').

Director Chan-Wook is very positive about the project and said, “I had the feeling that of all the movies I’ve done, this might turn out to be the best.”. Meanwhile actor Song Kang-ho was equally excited as he had this to say, “As an actor, it was a formidable adventure and difficult filming experience. I’m happy to be able to do a movie like this”.

Synopsis

Song plays a respected priest who turns into a vampire after receiving a blood transfusion, which he’d undergone as a volunteer to test out a secretly developed experimental vaccine. As if that weren’t bad enough, following his transformation, the devoted priest falls in love with his friend’s wife.

Due to Chan-Wook's international creditbility, the film has attracted North American investors including Universal Pictures and Focus Features. It co-stars Kim Ok-bin ('Over The Rainbow') and is set for release in the first half of 2009.
