Shooting Starts On 'Painted Skin 2'

 

Remember that sequel to 2008's 'Painted Skin' that was announced early last year? Well, good news everybody, shooting has finally gotten underway in China's Liaoning province. Donnie Yen, Vicki Zhao Wei, Zhou Xun and Sun Li all return to the cast, with mainland actor Huang Xiaoming replacing Chen Kun.

Originally adapted from Pu Songling's famous novel, 'Erotic Ghost Story' (or 'Liao Zhai Zhi Yi'), the first movie focused on a bizarre love triangle between a human couple and a fox spirit. The film was a big success and pocketed 230 million RMB or about 33million US dollars at the box office.

The second installment will apparently be more of an adventure than a love story. It will tell the tale of a devoted son who makes a journey to the west to seek the source of eternal youth for his parents. During the trip, he will encounter and conquer many enemies and obstacles which are sent to him by powerful demons.

'Painted Skin 2' is scheduled for release early next year.
