Trailer And Poster For 'Aftershock'

The trailer and poster art have been released for 'Aftershock', a new disaster drama based around the Tangshan Earthquake. Directed by Feng Xiaogang, the film focuses on a young woman's traumatic memory of surviving the devastating earthquake that took the lives of over 240,000 people.

Synopsis

In the aftermath of the Tangshan Earthquake, a mother is informed that her 7-year old twins are buried close to each other underneath the rubble. This means that digging one out would automatically result in further collapse, instantly killing the other. With time ticking away, she is forced to make the most difficult decision of her life and chooses to save the young boy. However, unbeknownst to the mother, the young girl hears her making the decision and finds herself infused with the will to survive. After several days under the debris, she is miraculously rescued but chooses not to reveal her identity and is put up for adoption.

As the years go by, the girl finds herself forever haunted by the traumatic experience from her childhood and unable to relate to those around her. That is until she decides to volunteer to join the rescue team after the Sichuan earthquake takes over 80,000 lives in 2008. Forced to relive old memories, the girl starts to appreciate the predicament that her mother faced and pieces of her life suddenly start to fall into place.

'Aftershock' stars Daoming Chen, Jingchu Zhang, Yi Lu and Fan Xu. It is scheduled for release on the 28th July, 2010.
