The trailer and poster art have been released for 'Doman Seman', a new surreal fantasy comedy from indie director Go Shibata ('Late Bloomer'). Packed full of bizarre elements and symbolism, the film's "magical realism" was apparently inspired by the works of David Lynch and Alejandro Jodorowsky.
Synopsis
Set in Kyoto, the film revolves around a shikigami (summoned magical spirit) who presents himself as yakuza magician named Mr. Abe as he does battle against the evil and greed of modern society. Aided by an army of psychic children, he enlists the help of a lazy mooch named Shinsuke and a homeless hallucinogenic mushroom addict named Tsutomu. He tasks them with tracking down a man named Terada who murdered the staff of a personal loan company as a teenager and seems to attract dark energy.
