Trailer For 'Graffreeter Toki'

The trailer has been released for 'Graffreeter Toki' (AKA 'Grap Freeter Toki'), a new Japanese movie adaptation of a comedic stage play. The story centres around a boy who is raised in a rather unorthodox manner as his mother is an obsessive fan of Keisuke Itagaki’s 'Baki the Grappler' manga.

Synopsis

In one particular downtown shopping district, there happen to be many fans of the 'Baki the Grappler' manga. Chief among them is a woman named Shizue (Yuki Saito), an obsessive Baki fan who runs her missing husband’s chiropractic clinic. When their neighborhood is put at risk of a major overhaul from a company called “Happy Lucky Group”, Shizue hires a part-time qigong therapist named Ando (Kanji Tsuda) in hopes of revitalizing the clinic. In addition to her work at the clinic, Shizue has been training her son Toki (Ryota Sudo) to one day become the world’s strongest man like Baki. However, he’s only succeeded in becoming the world’s least employed “freeter”. When Happy-Lucky president Sonoda suggests a final showdown in which he’d put his land rights on the line against Shizue’s ultra-rare Baki championship belt, Shizue decides to do whatever it takes to fight for the survival of the shopping district.

'Graffreeter Toki' opens across Japan on the 14th July, 2012.
