Tsui Hark Pondering 'Dragon Gate Inn' Remake
Â
With production of 'Judge Dee' set to get underway in April 2009, director Tsui Hark is toying with the idea of using his time to do a remake of the classic 'Dragon Gate Inn'. The original film was made in 1966 and Tsui Hark seems to be a big fan of the story as he was also involved in the 1992 remake.
The story centres around a power hungry eunuch who employs an evil sect in his quest to rule China. He encounters resistence from a group of rebels and ultimately, the two warring factions end up in the rundown Dragon Inn which is situated in the middle of the desert.
On the 5th October, Tsui Hark attended the 13th Pusan International Film Festival where he gave a talk entitled "My Life, My Cinema". His cosmopolitan comedy 'She Ain't Mean/All About Women' was also due to premiere at the festival but had to be withdrawn at the last minute as the approval from Mainland Chinese censors was delayed by the National holiday.
