Blu-ray & DVD release: ‘An Abandoned Team’

CN Entertainment are bringing the 2024 Hong Kong drama ‘An Abandoned Team’ (得寵先生) to Hong Kong Blu-ray and DVD on February 18, 2025.

Directed by Tomas Lee and Daniel Ho, the film revolves around a lonely retiree who begins volunteering at an animal shelter. The cast includes Lawrence Cheng, Amy Lo, Jay Fung, Bonnie Wong Ching-Yi, and Fish Liew.

Synopsis: After retirement, Yam Chun Kai (Lawrence Cheng) feels that life has lost all meaning. The hot-tempered 60-year-old man is divorced and estranged from his daughter (Fish Liew). One day, he decides to go to the mountains to end his life, but a stray dog named Roast Piggy saves him. Roast Piggy leads animal rescue volunteer Una (Amy Lo) to Kai just in time. This unexpected encounter becomes a turning point for Kai. Though Kai originally disliked dogs, he changes his mind because of Roast Piggy, and begins to volunteer at an animal shelter. While taking care of abandoned animals, Kai finds new value and meaning in life. He even tries to repair relations with his daughter. However, just when things seem to be getting better, tragedy strikes.
