Blu-ray & DVD release: ‘Madalena’

Universe Laser are bringing the 2021 Hong Kong romantic drama ‘Madalena’ (馬達·蓮娜) to Hong Kong Blu-ray and DVD on August 22, 2025.

Written and directed by Emily Chan, the film follows a divorced taxi driver in Macau who forms an unlikely friendship with a lonely migrant girl working as a hostess. The cast includes Louis Cheung, Chrissie Chau, Marina De Senna Fernandes, Peng Shiteng, Chan Sai-Ping, and Im Mio.

Synopsis: Down and divorced cabbie Mada (Louis Cheung) deals with insomnia by driving the late-night shift. He meets Lena (Chrissie Chau), a migrant worker working as a hostess. Lena’s presence adds a touch of colour to Mada’s life, and he begins to believe he can get over the pain of divorce. Lena recognises Ma Da’s feelings, but she can’t quite let go of her past.
