Blu-ray & DVD release: ‘The Movie Emperor’

Kam & Ronson are bringing the 2024 Chinese comedy-drama ‘The Movie Emperor’ (红毯先生) to Hong Kong Blu-ray and DVD on July 18, 2024.

Directed by Ning Hao, the film revolves around a veteran actor who is desperate to win an award so he agrees to play the lead in a modest indie drama. The cast includes Andy Lau, Pal Sinn, Rima Zeidan, Daniel Yu, Ning Hao, Kelly Lin, Tony Leung Ka-Fai, and Miriam Yeung.

Synopsis: Hong Kong superstar Lau Wai-Chi (Andy Lau) has been in the film industry for forty years and aspires to win a film award. He decides to team up with director Lin Hao (Ning Hao) to make a film about the countryside to garner international fame at a film festival. To research the role, Lau goes deep into the countryside to experience local life, personally solicits investment, and refuses to use a stunt double, which triggers a series of ridiculous events.
