Blu-ray release: ‘Goodbye Mr. Loser’

Allied Vaughn and China Lion are bringing the 2015 Chinese comedy ‘Goodbye Mr. Loser’ (夏洛特烦恼) to US Blu-ray on September 28, 2023.

Based on a play and directed by Yan Fei and Peng Damo, the film follows a middle-aged loser who finds himself magically transported back to his high school years, enabling him to fix all his life’s mistakes. The cast includes Shen Teng, Ma Li, Yin Zheng, Allen Ai Lun, ‪Wang Zhi, and Tian Yu.

Synopsis: Unemployed amateur musician Xia Luo attends the wedding of Qiu Ya, his high school crush. He overdrinks, makes an inebriated declaration of love to Qiu Ya, and angers his wife Ma Dong Mei, who publicly shames him for being a poor provider and husband. After causing chaos as his wife pursues him through the wedding hall, Xia Luo locks himself into a bathroom at the wedding venue, flies into a rage of self-hatred and passes out, waking up in his teenage body in his middle-school classroom in 1997.
