Blu-ray release: ‘Kite: Integral Version’

Discotek Media are bringing the 1998 Japanese OVA ‘Kite’ (ア カイト / A Kite) to US Blu-ray on September 24, 2024.

Written and directed by Yasuomi Umetsu, the film revolves around a young girl, orphaned at an early age, who carries out assassinations at the behest of her mentor. The voice cast includes Konami Yoshida, Kinryu Arimoto, Kosuke Okano, Rokuro Naya, and Dai Matsumoto.

Synopsis: The world sees Sawa as just another run-of-the-mill schoolgirl, but the underworld fears her explosive talents as an instrument of death. Trapped in a vicious cycle of violence and abuse, the young assassin lives every day like it’s her last. But everything changes when a chance encounter shows her that there might be a life beyond the suffering. Unfortunately, the blood-red chains that bind Sawa don’t plan to loosen up their grip anytime soon.
