Blu-ray release: ‘Punk Samurai’

Third Window Films are bringing the 2018 Japanese historical action comedy ‘Punk Samurai’ (パンク侍、斬られて候) to UK Blu-ray on March 13, 2023.

Based on the novel ‘Punk Samurai Slash Down’ by Ko Machida and directed by Gakuryu Ishii, the film follows a ronin who lies to become a part of the Kurokaze clan. The cast includes Go Ayano, Keiko Kitagawa, Shota Sometani, Masahiro Higashide, Tadanobu Asano, and Masatoshi Nagase.

Synopsis: Junoshin Kake (Go Ayano) is a ronin with ambitions to be a part of the Kuroae clan. To do this, Junoshin fabricates the lie that an old religious cult is out to kill the group so that he must assist them and become a member. Slowly, his lie begins to unravel as he attempts anything to uphold his constructed scenario, which results in the old cult resurfacing and taking over the land!
