Blu-ray release: ‘The Weird Man’

Imprint Films are bringing the 1983 Hong Kong fantasy martial arts drama ‘The Weird Man’ (神通術與小霸王) to Australian Blu-ray on July 30, 2025.

Written and directed by Chang Cheh, the film revolves around a recently deceased Taoist Priest who returns from the dead to seek retribution against the corrupt warlord who murdered him. The cast includes Ricky Cheng, Chiu Gwok, Wong Man-Yee, Lau Yuk-Pok, Wong Lik, and Yu Tai-Ping.

Synopsis: Beheaded, crazed Taoist Priest Yu Ji returns from the dead with supernatural powers to seek divine retribution against the corrupt warlord General Sun Ce and his treacherous court. Heroes, sorcerers, and armies try to defeat the evil spirit, building to an explosive confrontation steeped in mystic martial arts fury.
