
Blu-ray release: ‘Zebraman’

88 Films are bringing the 2004 Japanese tokusatsu superhero action comedy ‘Zebraman’ (ゼブラーマン) to UK Blu-ray on May 19, 2025.
Directed by Takashi Miike, the film follows a teacher frustrated with the failures of his everyday life, who decides to assume the identity of the fictional superhero Zebraman. The cast includes Sho Aikawa, Kyoka Suzuki, Yui Ichikawa, Naoki Yasukochi, Atsuro Watabe, and Koen Kondo.
Synopsis: Shinichi (Sho Aikawa) is a teacher facing a midlife crisis, as his family collapses around him. To escape from the bitter reality of his daily existence, Shinichi takes to secretly dressing up as Zebraman, the eponymous hero of an obscure 1970s TV series from when he was a kid that was cancelled after just seven episodes. Meanwhile, as his life collapses around him, aliens are at large and readying themselves to take over planet Earth. Can Shinichi overcome his lack of confidence to channel his childhood fantasies into saving the world?
