Cheng Cheng Films are bringing the 2010 Chinese drama ‘Buddha Mountain’ (观音山) to various digital platforms on August 20, 2021.

Directed by Li Yu, the film chronicles the lives of three youths who have no intention of sitting exams and a retired Chinese opera singer who is mourning the death of her son. The cast includes Fan Bingbing, Chen Bolin, Sylvia Chang, Wang Helong, Fang Li, and Jin Jing.

Synopsis: When they are evicted from their apartment in a provincial city in Northern China, a young bar singer and her two male friends rent rooms from a retired opera singer in Peking. The free-spirited young people chafe against a myriad of rules from their controlling landlady. They retaliate by playing unkind practical jokes on the older woman, who pays them back in kind. Their contest of wills escalates, culminating in a violation of trust by the tenants, but eventually the generations learn from each other and a familial bond is formed between them.

‘Buddha Mountain’ will be available from Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk. For further details, visit chengchengfilm.com.
