Taiwan Film Festival Edinburgh goes online in September

The first ever, free to access Taiwan Film Festival Edinburgh will take place online from September 18-27, 2020. Originally planned as a physical event, the Festival was reshaped to a purely digital form in light of the global pandemic.

The Taiwan Film Festival Edinburgh will feature 20 carefully selected films with 10 titles marking their UK premiere. The full programme is as follows:

• Six Suspects (1965)
• The Bride who has Returned from Hell (1965)
• A City Called Dragon (1970)
• Four Moods (1970)
• Where the Seagull Flies (1970)
• Cheerful Wind (1981)
• The Sandwich Man (1983)
• Kuei-Mei, a Woman (1985)
• God Man Dog (2007)
• When Love Comes (2010)
• Jade Miners (2015)
• Ice Poison (2014)
• The Palace on the Sea (2014)
• How Deep Is the Ocean (2000)
• Out/Marriage (2012)
• The Mountain (2015)
• The Busy Young Psychic (2013)
• Towards the Sun (2016)
• A Taxi Driver (2018)

In collaboration with Scottish Documentary Institute, Taiwan Film Festival Edinburgh will also present a series of Q&As and panel discussions with filmmakers featured in the programme and invited guests. These events will be announced in due course.

Each of the titles presented as part of the Festival will be available online for between 7 and 10 days. Once granted their free access, audiences will have 5 days to watch it and 30 hours playback time once they click ‘watch’. To ensure wide access to this unique cinematic offering, all films are free to access.

The titles will be added to the Festival’s website on September 4 for audiences to browse ahead of the grand opening on September 18. Each film will have clearly marked dates when it is available to stream.
