‘Unexpected Family’ (过家家) is a 2026 Chinese comedy-drama co-written and directed by Li Taiyan.
The film centres on a struggling young drifter who is mistaken for an elderly man’s long-lost son, leading to a forced cohabitation with strangers that gradually evolves into an unexpected family. The cast includes Jackie Chan, Peng Yuchang, Zhang Jianing, Pan Binlong, and Li Ping.
Synopsis: Struggling and far from home, Zhong Bufan (Peng Yuchang) is mistaken by his elderly landlord Ren (Jackie Chan) for his long-lost son, forcing him into an awkward shared household with fellow drifters Su Xiaoyue (Zhang Jianing), hustling real-estate agent Jia Ye (Pan Binlong), and a devoted neighbour, Jin Zhengu (Li Ping).
