‘658km, Yoko’s Journey’ (658km、陽子の旅) is a 2023 Japanese drama directed by Kazuyoshi Kumakiri.

The film revolves around a woman who winds up hitchhiking her way to her estranged father’s funeral and meets various interesting people along the way. The cast includes Rinko Kikuchi, Pistol Takehara, Asuka Kurosawa, Ai Mikami, Kenta Hamano, and Sawa Nimura.

Synopsis: 42-year-old Yoko (Rinko Kikuchi) is single and lives in Tokyo. Her hometown is Hirosaki, Aomori prefecture. She has given up on life and spends her time as a stay-at-home freelancer. One day, she hears news of her estranged father’s death. In the past, her father opposed her dream and, after that, she didn’t speak to her father for the next 20 years. In order to attend her father’s funeral, Yoko, her cousin Shigeru (Pistol Takehara) and his family drive to Hirosaki. On the way, they stop at a rest area and Shigeru’s child causes trouble. Shigeru’s family is preoccupied with the trouble and leave Yoko behind at the rest area. Yoko doesn’t have any money on her and she hesitates to go any further, but she decides to hitchhike her way to Hirsaki.
