‘A Woman’ (孔秀) is a 2024 Chinese drama co-written and directed by Wang Chao.
Based on Zhang Xiuzhen’s semi-autobiographical novel ‘Dream’, the film follows one woman’s difficult journey from factory worker to acclaimed writer. The cast includes Shen Shiyu, Zhu Dongqing, Wang Xuedong, and Yu Qingbin.
Synopsis: Kong Xiu (Shen Shiyu) is a printing and dyeing factory worker who breaks free from the shackles of marriage, raises her children to adulthood, and acquires literary sustenance to become a writer in the midst of her arduous workload from the early 1960s to the mid-1980s. [© Far East Films]
