‘Dear Stranger’ (ディア・ストレンジャー) is a 2025 Japanese suspense drama written and directed by Tetsuya Mariko.
The film revolves around a Japanese man and his Chinese-American wife who face a crumbling marriage as their son’s kidnapping and murder unearth hidden truths. The cast includes Hidetoshi Nishijima and Kwai Lun-Mei.
Synopsis: Kenji (Hidetoshi Nishijima), a Japanese man living in New York, and his Chinese-American wife, Jane (Kwai Lun-Mei), are consumed by the demands of work, parenting, and caregiving, leaving little time for themselves. When their young son is kidnapped and the tragedy escalates into a murder case, unspoken truths and secrets unravel, widening the divide between them.
