‘Fish Bone’ (鱼刺) is a 2025 Chinese drama written and directed by Zhang Xuyu.
The film follows a young woman whose bid for independence strains her relationship with her mother. The cast includes Huang Jingyi, Chai Ye, Chen Jianing, Abner Huang, and Wang Yinan.
Synopsis: After the college entrance exam, Li Qi helps her mother run a small fish stall while quietly pushing back against a life planned for her. When a minor altercation leaves her owing compensation and her exam results fall short of expectations, unresolved tensions surface, forcing both mother and daughter to confront the fragile bond between obligation, love, and independence.
