‘Frontline’ (フロントライン) is a 2025 Japanese drama directed by Kosai Sekine.

Based on a true story, the film revolves around a group of volunteer medical professionals who are dispatched to deal with the first Japanese outbreak of COVID-19 aboard a luxury cruise ship. The cast includes Shun Oguri, Tori Matsuzaka, Sosuke Ikematsu, Yosuke Kubozuka, Yuki Sakurai, and Nana Mori.

Synopsis: On February 3, 2020, a luxury cruise ship carrying 3,711 passengers and crew arrived at Yokohama Port. One passenger who disembarked in Hong Kong was confirmed to be infected with COVID-19, and more than 100 people on board reported symptoms. Japan does not have an organisation that specialises in large-scale virus response, so the DMAT, a volunteer medical organisation specialising in disaster medical care, was suddenly deployed.
