‘Good News’ (굿뉴스) is a 2025 South Korean disaster thriller directed by Byun Sung-Hyun.
Inspired by true events, the film follows a hijacked Japanese flight bound for Pyongyang, where a clever mastermind devises a bold plan to reroute it to Seoul. The cast includes Sul Kyung-Gu, Hong Kyung, Ryoo Seung-Bum, Park Hae-Soo, and Kang Seo-Yeon.
Synopsis: In 1970, shortly after departing Tokyo’s Haneda Airport for Itazuke, a passenger plane was hijacked by Red Army Faction members wielding guns and knives, demanding a flight to Pyongyang. Lacking Japan-North Korea agreements, the plan faltered. In Seoul, the elusive operative ‘Nobody’ led a covert rescue, with Japan, South Korea, and U.S. teams using tactics like runway blockades and radio signal hijacking. [© Far East Films]
