‘Hallan’ (한란) is a 2025 South Korean historical drama written and directed by Ha Myung-Mi.
The film follows a mother and daughter fleeing into the mountains during the 1948 Jeju uprising as they fight to survive amid escalating danger and loss. The cast includes Kim Hyang-Gi, Kim Min-Chae, Hwang Jeong-Nam, Kim Won-Joon, and Choi Seung-Jun.
Synopsis: Amid the turmoil of the 1948 Jeju uprising, Go Ajin (Kim Hyang-gi) struggles to protect her young daughter Kang Haesaeng (Kim Min-chae) as they are forced into the mountains and along the rugged coastline. They confront hunger, fear, and the collapse of the world they once knew. Ajin fights to hold on to hope and dignity, while Haesaeng’s innocent curiosity slowly gives way to an understanding of the danger surrounding them. Together, they search for a fragile path to survival, mirroring the resilience of the rare Hallan orchid that blooms against all odds. [© Far East Films]
