‘Kokuho’ (国宝) is a 2025 Japanese drama directed by Lee Sang-Il.
Based on the novel ‘Kokuhou’ by Shuichi Yoshida, the film follows the son of a yakuza family who loses his father in a feud and is taken in by the head of a prestigious kabuki family. The cast includes Ryo Yoshizawa, Ryusei Yokohama, Ken Watanabe, Mitsuki Takahata, and Shinobu Terajima.
Synopsis: Kikuo lost his father to a feud and was taken in by Hanjiro Hanai, the head of a prestigious kabuki family, diving into the world of kabuki. There, he meets Shunsuke, the heir assured of his future from birth, being the biological son of Hanjiro. The two, inheriting completely opposite bloodlines, with different upbringings and talents, challenge and elevate each other as rivals and devote their youth to their art.
