‘Living in Two Worlds’ (ぼくが生きてる、ふたつの世界) is a 2024 Japanese drama directed by Mipo O.
Based on a novel by Dai Igarashi, the film revolves around a young man who decides to travel to Tokyo after becoming confused and frustrated living at home with his deaf parents. The cast includes Ryo Yoshizawa, Akiko Oshidari, Akito Imai, Yusuke Santamaria, and Setsuko Karasuma.
Synopsis: A boy is born to the Igarashi family in a small port town in Miyagi Prefecture. His grandparents and parents rejoice at the birth, naming him ‘Dai’. The only difference from other families was that his parents were deaf. For the young Dai, it was ‘normal’ and enjoyable to interpret for his mother, whom he loved very much. Gradually, however, he becomes confused and frustrated at being singled out by those around him, and even his mother’s brightness becomes alien to him.
