‘My Happy Marriage’ (わたしの幸せな結婚) is a 2023 Japanese period romantic drama directed by Ayuko Tsukahara.
Based on a novel by Akumi Agitogi, the film revolves around an abused woman who is forced to marry a soldier with a fierce reputation but soon discovers that he isn’t as cruel as she had been led to believe. The cast includes Ren Meguro, Mio Imada, Tsutomu Takahashi, Sayaka Yamaguchi, Akari Takaishi, and Ryoko Kobayashi.
Synopsis: Miyo Saimori (Mio Imada) is the first daughter of a prestigious family in the capital city. After her real mother died, her father remarried and since then, Miyo has experienced abuse from her stepmother and younger stepsister. Miyo just endures her days but things get worse when she is informed that she will marry Kiyoka Kudo (Ren Meguro). Kiyoka is a soldier renowned for being cruel and ruthless. At their first meeting, Kiyoka tells Miyo that she must follow his orders, leaving her bewildered. After their marriage though, she realizes that Kiyoka is not as cruel or ruthless as she heard and their feelings for each other begin to grow.
