‘Shanghai Wonton’ (菜肉馄饨) is a 2025 Chinese romantic comedy directed by Wu Tiange.
The film follows a retired engineer whose attempt to find a potential partner for his son spirals into an unexpected emotional whirlwind. The cast includes Zhou Yemang, Pan Hong, Mao Shanyu, Chen Guoqing, Wang Lin, and Xu Xiang.
Synopsis: Retired engineer Lao Wang from Shanghai has an arrangement with his son, Xiao Wang, that every Saturday he will visit his parents and enjoy a bowl of Lao Wang’s speciality meat wontons. Eager to see his son married and starting a family, Lao Wang, encouraged by his wife Su Juan, decides to visit the park’s matchmaking corner to find a suitable partner for him. While there, he meets people such as Lao Jin, Mei Qin, and A Fang, and unexpectedly finds himself caught up in an emotional whirlwind of his own. [© Far East Films]
