‘The Pact’ (신명) is a 2025 South Korean occult political thriller directed by Kim Nam-Kyun.

The film revolves around a woman who becomes obsessed with power and is willing to do anything to take over Korea, even taking people’s lives through witchcraft if necessary. The cast includes Kim Gyu-Ri, Ahn Nae-Sang, Joo Sung-Hwan, Kim In-Woo, and Dong Bang-Woo.

Synopsis: As a young girl, Yoon Ji-hee practised witchcraft, starting with the Bunshin Saba. Realising that she could use men to get what she wanted, she began to change her face through plastic surgery, falsifying her name, education, and status to live a completely different life. After getting a taste of power, she became obsessed with the ambition to take over Korea and went on a brutal rampage, even taking people’s lives through witchcraft if necessary. One unbelievable event after another brings her closer and closer to her goal. Meanwhile, PD Jeong Hyun-soo and investigative journalists are tracking her and politician Kim Seok-il, a former prosecutor who has risen to become a presidential candidate, and they become increasingly suspicious of the strange connection between the two. But the closer he gets to the horrifying truth, the more he is chased by a dangerous shadow… Can he reach the real her? [© Far East Films]
