‘The Silent Service: The Battle of Arctic Ocean’ (沈黙の艦隊 北極海大海戦) is a 2025 Japanese action drama directed by Kohei Yoshino.

Based on a manga series by Kaiji Kawaguchi, this second film in the series follows the nuclear submarine Yamato in a tense Arctic chase by a U.S. vessel, tied to a high-stakes political gamble. The cast includes Takao Osawa, Aya Ueto, Kenjiro Tsuda, Aoi Nakamura, and Koudai Matsuoka.

Synopsis: In the Arctic Ocean’s icy depths, the Japanese nuclear submarine Yamato, led by Captain Shiro Kaieda, sails toward New York after defeating the U.S. Seventh Fleet, with Mozart echoing aboard. Pursued by a superior American submarine sent by President Bennett to destroy the “nuclear terrorist” vessel, Yamato faces its greatest challenge in the Bering Strait. Meanwhile, in Japan, Prime Minister Takegami ties his fate to Yamato amid a snap election. Under the aurora, a tense battle unfolds in the ice-laden waters. [© Far East Films]
