‘The Stage’ (戏台 / Xi Tai) is a 2025 Chinese comedy-drama written and directed by Chen Peisi.

Adapted from the play of the same name, the film revolves around a group of individuals who all find themselves unexpectedly wrapped up in a performance of ‘Farewell My Concubine’. The cast includes Chen Peisi, Huang Bo, Jiang Wu, Yin Zheng, Yang Haoyu, Yu Shaoqun, Chen Dayu, and Xu Zhuoer.

Synopsis: During the Republic of China period, the Wuqing Troupe are set to perform ‘Farewell My Concubine’. However, an unexpected incident occurs, leading to an unforeseen encounter on the stage involving the troupe’s leader, the dumpling delivery worker, a visiting general, the famous actor Jin Xiaotian, the theatre manager, a young actress, the runaway sixth concubine, and the bully Liu Baye.
